 About

Parkay

Chicago’s continued ability to produce nationally recognized Artists has pushed the city to the forefront of Hip-Hop. Native son, Parkay has emerged as one of the city’s most prolific lyricists and bears the pain & scars to support his authenticity. Due in part to his highly acclaimed single, ‘Big League’ featuring Ty money and Dano Cashh and his extensive catalog of music for the street, Parkay has gained the attention of industry decision-makers and Hip-Hop’s elite. Parkay’s deep understanding of where he comes from and where his values lie have motivated him to continue to produce music that inspires his fans to put in the work to manifest the objects of their desires while also educating his listeners about street code and the hazards of street life.

A fixture in Chicago’s Low-end of the Southside, Parkay is not new to national exposure. Although he is a solo artist, he is also a member of the legendary Chicago based group “Goon Squad”. Parkay, alongside Sly Polaroid and Bump J, certified Chicago gangsta rap with the 2008 release of ‘Three Kingz’. With the success of this release, group member Bump J later went on to sign a multi-million dollar deal with Atlantic Records. This prompted Parkay to pursue his solo career. While signed to Forilla Records and One Off, he was able to release several mixtapes and countless videos which have increased his notoriety and expanded his fan base across the Midwest and beyond.

As mentioned, life has not always been easy for Parkay. Legal troubles, the loss of the Mother of his children, and a near death experience in which he was shot six times temporarily sidelined his career; but his passion for music never ceased. These incidents dramatically changed Parkay’s perspective on life and have helped him to zero in on what is at stake. With this realization and fresh mindset, Parkay returned from hiatus with renewed enthusiasm for hip-hop and focus for his craft. He takes pride in his work ethic and spends all his available time in the studio. He understands that the art of making music is not limited to just going into the booth and rapping. He states, “I had to learn to keep certain people around me that I could learn from. It’s bigger than music. It’s bigger than business. That’s how I approach my life.”

Parkay has released several notable mixtapes including ‘Perfect Timing’ and most recently ‘Kush &Caviar’. His focus now is releasing his highly anticipated project ‘American Greed’, along with the re-release of an extended documentary bearing the label name, ‘Hands On’; which chronicles his path to recovery after being shot. ‘Handz On’ featuring Bump J, the self-titled lead single off the American Greed project has gained major radio support in the Chicago market as Parkay continues fine-tuning the project for its official release. With insurmountable dedication and faith in his dreams, the future continues to looks bright for the Butta Boy.
